Women's Volleyball: Raiders take two from Colby-Sawyer & Lasell

(New London, N.H.) The Rivier University Women's Volleyball team improved to a perfect 4-0 in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference after a pair of straight set victories over Colby-Sawyer College and Lasell College this afternoon. The wins move the Raiders to an overall record of 9-5 (4-0 GNAC).

Game One: Rivier University 3, Colby-Sawyer College 1 (Final)

Rivier took the first game of the tri-match by set scores of 25-11, 25-18 and 25-17.

Junior Taylor Dunster (Sutton, Mass.) led the offense with 11 kills and 20 digs while classmate Jessica Whyte (Plymouth, Mass.) hammered down eight kills and registered five total blocks. Senior setter Hayley Macken (Clifton Park, N.Y.) handed out 31 assists and collected 11 digs while also knocking down six kills.

The Chargers saw Maddie Bromley record the team-high of six kills and the duo of Katarina Hornung and Courtney Murray added five kills each. Anna Allen dished out 13 helpers and Morgan Flynn scooped up 19 digs.

Game Two: Rivier University 3, Lasell College 0 (Final)

The Raiders closed out the day with a clean sweep of the Lasers by scores of 25-11, 25-21 and 25-17.

Dunster once again powered the offensive output as she finished with 16 kills and a .452 hitting percentage. Freshman Sydney Racevicius (Woodbury, Conn.) collected a double-double with 10 kills and 12 digs while Macken recorded 28 assists and seven digs in the win. Sophomore Julia Zargaj (Groveland, Mass.) chipped in with three total blocks and senior Taylor White (Dunstable, Mass.) picked up six digs.

Olivia Addington and Kiana Perez each hammered down 11 kills to lead the Lasers as Jess Langan netted 23 assists. Allie Jo Amos paced the defensive effort with 12 digs.

Rivier will remain in conference action when they return to the court on Tuesday night as they travel to Boston, Mass. for a matchup with Suffolk University.
