Women's Volleyball: Collins leads Raiders past Emerson, 3-1

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Women's Volleyball team earned a four set win this evening over visiting Emerson College in a non-conference contest inside the Muldoon Gymnasium. The win pushes the Raiders to an overall record of 19-6 while the Lions fall to 13-11 on the season.

Rivier was victorious by set scores of 20-25, 25-16, 25-18 and 25-21.

Graduate Courtney Collins (Litchfield, N.H.) led the offense for the Raiders as she hammered down 14 kills, recorded a .400 hitting percentage and had five total blocks. Freshman Avery Pollard (Ballston Lake, N.Y.) registered her career high with 10 kills including five service aces and on the defensive side complied 14 digs and four total blocks. Senior setter Hayley Macken (Clifton Park, N.Y.) directed the offense with 44 assists while scooping up 10 digs. Junior Taylor Dunster (Sutton, Mass.) totaled the game-high with 16 digs as she also knocked down eight kills and senior Taylor White (Dunstable, Mass.) picked up 15 digs in the win. Freshman Sydney Racevicius (Woodbury, Conn.) had a solid night with a nine-kill, 13-dig effort and junior Jessica Whyte (Plymouth, Mass.) swung at a .462 clip with eight kills of her own.

Emerson was guided by Kelley Guerra who totaled 10 kills and a .474 hitting percentage. Grace Tepper chipped in with eight-kills and 15 digs while Moira Brennan dished out 24 helpers. Lauren Quan tied Dunster for the game-high of 16 digs.

Rivier will return to action on Thursday night as they travel over to Keene State for a 7pm non-conference matchup. The Raiders defeated the Owls in a thrilling five-set match at the Muldoon back on September 8th. Emerson, meanwhile, will travel across town to battle Simmons University on Thursday evening as well.
