Women's Volleyball: Raiders lock up #3 seed in upcoming GNAC Tournament

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Women's Volleyball team sent the seniors out with a win as they took care of business against visiting Regis College, 3-0 in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest inside the Muldoon Gymnasium. The win locks up the overall #3 seed for the Raiders in the upcoming GNAC Tournament as they improve to 18-10 overall, 10-2 in the conference while the Pride fall to 11-15, 7-5 GNAC.

Prior to the start of the contest, the Rivier Volleyball community bid farewell to four seniors who played their final regular season game in Raider Blue. Seniors Bethany Trevino (Westminster, Colo.), Madison Soucy (Tolland, Conn.), Erin Rosa (Cumberland, R.I.) and Alex Trevains (Litchfield, N.H.) were gathered on the court with their families as the team honored their achievements with gifts and flowers.

For the game – the Raiders jumped out to a quick start and never looked back as they took the game in straight sets by scores of 25-17, 25-23 and 25-23.

Sophomore Taylor Dunster (Sutton, Mass.) led the way offensively as she hammered down seven kills while also picking up 17 digs. Freshman Emma Soucy (Dunbarton, N.H.) also recorded seven kills and Rosa finished with three kills on the evening. Junior setter Hayley Macken (Clifton Park, N.Y.) dished out 28 assists and Trevino was the dig leader with 20. Trevains totaled four kills and junior Taylor White (Dunstable, Mass.) knocked down six with Madison Soucy registering eight digs in her final home performance.

Regis was guided by sophomore Katryna Veasey (Quincy, Mass.), who had nine kills and senior Sydney Trusty (Durham, Conn.) who had five kills. The senior duo of Haley Schulte (Fullerton, Calif.) and Shay Faber (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) totaled 27 assists while Veasey led the way defensively with 11 digs and two total blocks. Junior Caroline Fuentes (Downey, Calif.) also reached double-digits as she had 10 digs on the night.

Rivier will wrap up the regular season on Saturday afternoon as they travel to Endicott College for a non-conference tri-match with the Gulls and Eastern Nazarene College. The Raiders will host the GNAC Quarterfinals next Tuesday night beginning at 7pm.

Regis will return to action on Saturday afternoon as well as they venture to Gordon College for a 1pm non-conference tilt. The Pride, who have secured a GNAC Tournament berth, will not know who they will be paired up with until late Saturday night.
