Women's Volleyball: Coach Kolek honored for 400-400 accomplishment

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Women's Volleyball team dropped to 17-10 overall on the season this evening as Brandeis University earned the four set win inside the Muldoon Gymnasium in a non-conference contest.

Prior to the start of the match, the Rivier University community honored long-time Head Volleyball Coach Craig Kolek for his outstanding achievement of becoming the first ever collegiate volleyball coach to reach 400 wins as both the Women's Head Coach and the Men's Head Coach. University President Sister Paula Marie Buley, IHM was on hand to present Coach Kolek with a memorial plaque and unveiling of a new banner that will be hung inside the Muldoon.

Brandeis, who improved to 13-11 overall, came out quickly and spoiled the party as they took the first two sets (25-15, 25-14) before dropping the third set (22-25) and ending it in the fourth (25-16).

Sophomore Taylor Dunster (Sutton, Mass.) continued her breakout season as she led the team with 12 kills while senior Erin Rosa (Cumberland, R.I.) added seven kills of her own to go along with her three total blocks. Freshman Katherine Antczak (Salem, N.H.) guided the Raider offense with 18 assists while junior Hayley Macken (Clifton Park, N.Y.) provided additional help with 15 assists. Seniors Madison Soucy (Tolland, Conn.) and Bethany Trevino (Westminster, Colo.) each collected 14 and 11 digs, respectively, while sophomore Sunny Foglia (Remsenburg, N.Y.) registered two block solos.

Junior Shea Decker-Jacoby (Los Angeles, Calif.) was the leader for the Judges as she had 10 kills with a .360 hitting percentage. Freshman Clare Meyers (Richfield, Wisc.) added nine kills and Brandeis received eight-kill games from freshman Marissa Borgert (Blaine, Minn.) and junior Kirsten Frauens (Webster, N.Y.). Borgert also led the squad with 19 assists and junior Marlee Nork (Chicago, Ill.) added 18 helpers. Junior libero Yvette Cho (San Diego, Calif.) shined along the back line with 17 digs in the win.

Rivier will return to action on Thursday night as they host Regis College in the final Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest of the season. It will also be Senior Night inside the Muldoon as the Raiders will honor the four seniors on this year's squad. Game time is set for 7pm. Brandeis will be back on the court Saturday afternoon for a tri-match at Salem State with Bridgewater State starting at 12:30pm.
