Women's Volleyball: Trevino's 21 digs leads Raiders past Anna Maria

(Paxton, Mass.) The Rivier University Women's Volleyball team earned their fifth straight win this evening as they defeated Anna Maria College, 3-1 in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest at the Fuller Center. The Raiders are now 16-8 on the season and are 8-2 in the conference while the AMCATS fall to 4-18, 1-8 in league play.

Rivier was victorious by set scores of 25-12, 25-13, 24-26 and 25-14.

Sophomore Taylor Dunster (Sutton, Mass.) was once again electric as she held the match-high with 17 kills and collected 14 digs. Senior Erin Rosa (Cumberland, R.I.) added seven kills and four total blocks and sophomore Jessica Whyte (Plymouth, Mass.) chipped in with five kills. Junior setter Hayley Macken (Clifton Park, N.Y.) dished out 17 assists in her two sets played while freshman Katherine Antczak (Salem, N.H.) led the offense with 24 assists to go along with her 14 digs. Senior libero Bethany Trevino (Westminster, Colo.) was the defensive star with 21 digs.

Anna Maria was guided by senior Rebecca Foti (Bedford, N.H.) who had 12 kills and 15 digs. Senior Kerri Earle (Bethel, Conn.) added 12 digs and handed out 19 assists while sophomore Hannah Mitchell (Pittsfield, Mass.) contributed with two block solos and four kills in the loss for the AMCATS.

Both teams will be back in conference action on Saturday afternoon. The Raiders will travel to Hartford, Connecticut for an 11am game against the University of Saint Joseph before battling Gordon College in a mixed tri-match. Anna Maria, meanwhile, will be in Newton, Massachusetts for a pair of GNAC games at Lasell College with Norwich University.
