Women's Volleyball: Raiders roll to 3-0 win at Mount Ida

(Newton, Mass.) The Rivier University Women's Volleyball team extended their recent winning streak to seven games this evening as they defeated Mount Ida College, 3-0 in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest at the MIC Athletic Center. The win catapults the Raiders' overall record to 9-3 and 2-0 in conference play while the Mustangs fall to 7-6 overall, 0-1 in the GNAC.

Rivier was victorious by set scores of 25-11, 25-14 and 25-18.

Sophomore sensation Taylor Dunster (Sutton, Mass.) once again led the Raider offense as she hammered down 13 kills and a .323 hitting percentage. Dunster also collected 14 digs with senior libero Bethany Trevino (Westminster, Colo.) picking up the team high of 17 digs on the evening. Junior setter Hayley Macken (Clifton Park, N.Y.) dished out 27 assists while adding six kills of her own and freshman Jillian Rabasco (Nashua, N.H.) totaled five kills and six service aces. Senior Madison Soucy (Tolland, Conn.) also collected 11 digs in the win.

Mount Ida was guided by freshman Rachael Coloumbo's (Wallkill, N.Y.) six kills and senior Mary Kate Reidy (Agawam, Mass.) added five of her own. Sophomore Alexis Bell (Salem, Conn.) led the team with 16 assists and 14 digs.

Next up for the Raiders will be a GNAC Tri-Match at the Muldoon Gymnasium as they host Suffolk University and Johnson & Wales University on Saturday. The first game against Suffolk is set to begin at 11am while the rematch of the previous three GNAC WVB Championship games is scheduled to start at 3pm. Mount Ida will host New England College and Lesley University in a non-conference tri-match on Saturday.
