Women's Volleyball finishes season in first round of the NCAA Regionals

(Potsdam, New York) The magical 2013 season came to an end this afternoon as the Rivier University Women's Volleyball team fell to Richard Stockton College of New Jersey in the opening round of the 2013 NCAA Northeast Regional, 3-0. The Raiders competed in all three sets – holding late leads in sets 2 and 3 – but couldn't take a game as they lost 16-25, 23-25 and 22-25.

Senior Jessica Amaral (East Providence, Rhode Island) had probably her best game of her illustrious four year career as she was the defensive standout of the game. The 5'3" libero recorded just 11 digs on the afternoon but she was instrumental in directing the offense while controlling the back line.

Freshman Lauren Silverman (Chelmsford, Massachusetts) led the team with 7 kills while seniors Nicole Peacock (Warwick, Rhode Island) and Nicole Boucher (Windham, New Hampshire) added 6 and 5 kills respectively. Sophomore Emily O'Reilly (San Francisco, California) registered 5 kills and 20 assists. Freshman Molly McCormack (Ballston Lake, New York) and senior Morgan Peck (Sudbury, Massachusetts) combined for 7 kills to account for all of the Rivier offense.

The Raiders finish the 2013 season winning both the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Regular Season and Tournament Championships with a 27-9 overall record, 11-0 in the GNAC. This was the final game in the careers for Peacock, Amaral, Boucher and Peck.

Peacock ranks #1 in the program history for total blocks (375), #2 in Sets Played (464) and #3 in Career Kills (1,148). Amaral moved up to #3 in Career Digs with 1,369 and Sets Played (459) while Boucher also climbed the ranks to #3 in total blocks with 172.
