Raiders take two GNAC wins from Saint Joseph's and Anna Maria

(Nashua, NH) The Rivier University Women's Volleyball team improved their record to 13-5 overall and a perfect 3-0 in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference as they defeated both Saint Joseph's College and Anna Maria College in a GNAC tri-match at the Muldoon Gymnasium. Saint Joseph's took three straight sets from Anna Maria in the middle match this afternoon.

Game One: Rivier University 3, Saint Joseph's College 0 (Final)

The Raiders took care of business in the first game of the day as they defeated Saint Joseph's College 3-0 by scores of 25-23, 25-12 and 25-16. The win improves the Raiders record to 12-5 overall and 2-0 in the GNAC while Saint Joseph's falls to 13-4 overall and 4-1 in the GNAC.

Senior Nicole Peacock (Warwick, RI) led the charge for the Raiders as she recorded 13 kills and a .478 hitting percentage in the three sets. Senior Morgan Peck (Sudbury, MA) and sophomore Jackie Pisecco (Chelmsford, MA) each added 8 kills while senior Nicole Boucher (Windham, NH) had 7 kills in the win. Sophomore Emily O'Reilly (San Francisco, CA) was the game's assist leader with 38 assists and senior Jessica Amaral (East Providence, RI) registered 17 digs. Both O'Reilly and sophomore Lyndsey Sweeney (Coventry, RI) had 10 digs each.

The Monks were led by Felicia Wachowiak (Milton, NH) who had 8 kills while Shadai Gosselin (Somersworth, NH) and Victoria Huntley (Ellsworth, ME) had just 3 kills apiece. Mariah Hebert (Biddeford, ME) added 14 assists and Erica Russi (Debary, FL) was the defensive star with 11 digs.

Game Three: Rivier University 3, Anna Maria College 0 (Final)

The Raiders once again coasted to a 3-0 victory today, this time it was against Anna Maria College in the final match of the GNAC Tri-Match at the Muldoon Gymnasium. Freshman Chelsey Hussey (Lebanon, CT) paced the offensive attack for Rivier as she had the team high with 8 kills. Classmates Dana Mott (Medway, MA) and Jessica Drolet (Tiverton, RI) also added 7 kills in the three set win.

O'Reilly contributed with 34 assists and Amaral had 18 digs as the Raiders took the sets by scores of 25-12, 25-17 and 25-12.

Anna Maria was led by sophomore Samantha Parker (Athol, MA) who had four assists and five digs as she helped control the game for the Amcats. Sophomore Jessica Goulet (Lawrence, MA) registered two kills in her return to Rivier while Michelle Connolly (Quincy, MA) recorded 14 digs.

With the win, the Raiders improve to 13-5 overall and a perfect 3-0 mark in the GNAC. Anna Maria sees their record stand at .500 with an 8-8 mark and they fall to 0-2 in the conference.

Next up for Rivier will be Suffolk University on Tuesday night, 7pm at the Muldoon Gymnasium. The Amcats will have a full week off before they travel to Boston, Mass for a GNAC tri-match with Emmanuel College at Suffolk.
