Women's Volleyball takes three straight sets at Mount Ida

NEWTON, Mass. – The Rivier University Women's Volleyball team took care of business tonight as they opened the Great Northeast Athletic Conference part of their schedule with a 3-0 win over Mount Ida College. Rivier, the pre-season favorite to win the GNAC Championship, took the straight sets win by scores of 25-9, 25-11 and 25-22.

In total, 14 Rivier student-athletes saw action in at least one set. Senior Nicole Peacock (Warwick, RI) posted a team high six kills in just two sets played with a .750 hitting percentage while classmate Nicole Boucher (Windham, NH) and freshman Molly McCormack (Ballston Lake, NY) finished with four kills apiece. Sophomore setter Emily O'Reilly (San Francisco, CA) registered 24 assists on the evening and senior libero Jessica Amaral (East Providence, RI) had 9 digs. Sophomore Nikki Deluga (Cotuit, MA) and McCormack each added 7 digs in the win.

For the Mustangs, they were led by Abbey Fedigan who recorded five kills. Nicole Peixoto was the assist leader with 18 and Kelcey Koolman registered seven digs.

The Raiders (11-5 overall, 1-0 GNAC) will continue their tour through the GNAC as they host Saint Joseph's College and Anna Maria Collge in a Saturday tri-match at the Muldoon Gymnasium. Game one of the day between Rivier and Saint Joseph's will begin at 11am. Mount Ida (3-16 overall, 0-3 GNAC) will also participate in a GNAC tri-match at Emmanuel College with the Saints and Albertus Magnus College.
