Women's Volleyball takes two from Becker

(Nashua, NH) The Rivier University Women's Volleyball team took both games in a non-conference double header this afternoon from visiting Becker College, 3-0 and 3-0 as the Raiders improve their record to 9-4.

Rivier took all six sets that were played by scores of 25-7, 25-14, 25-12, 25-13, 25-6 and 25-13.

Game One: Rivier University 3, Becker College 0 (Final)

Senior Morgan Peck (Sudbury, MA) led the charge for Rivier in the first game as the 6 foot Opposite Side Hitter laced 7 kills, including four service aces. Freshman Dana Mott (Medway, MA) collected six kills while classmate Kayla Smith (Eastham, MA) had five kills. Senior Nicole Peacock (Warwick, RI) had a perfect hitting percentage as she capitalized on all five of her opportunities (5 kills, 5 total attacks). Sophomore Emily O'Reilly (San Francisco, CA) had a solid game with 29 assists and senior Jessica Amaral (East Providence, RI) collected 17 digs. Freshmen Chelsey Hussey (Lebanon, CT) and Jessica Drolet (Tiverton, RI) combined for 7 kills.

Bethany Stone and Marissa Turner each had the team high with 2 kills for the Hawks, who fall to 1-8 on the season. Kayla Prior had 7 digs and Lauren Lavallee added 3 assists.

Game Two: Rivier University 3, Becker College 0 (Final)

Game two was much of the same story as Peck paced the offensive attack. She totaled 13 kills and a .500 hitting percentage in the second game for the Raiders. A trio of freshmen was right behind her with each collecting six kills. Mott, Drolet and Hussey each had 6 kills but it was Mott who swung at a .545 clip. O'Reilly reached the 30 assist mark while Amaral chipped in 14 digs.

Katelyn Burns was able to lead the Hawks in game two as she totaled four kills in the two sets she appeared in. Turner followed that with 3 kills and Danielle Robbie contributed two kills. Lavallee recorded 6 assists while Burns had 10 digs. Becker now falls to 1-9 after the double-header sweep.

Rivier will be back in action on Saturday, September 28 as they travel to Connecticut for a tri-match with Trinity College and Wesleyan College. Becker will host Mass Maritime on September 25th in their next scheduled match up.
