Women's Soccer: Kasey Smith makes 20 saves in 2-0 loss to Regis

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Women's Soccer team fell this evening to visiting Regis College, 2-0 in a rain-soaked Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest under the lights at Raider Field. The loss sends the Raiders overall record to 3-10-0 with a 2-9-0 mark against conference play while the Pride are now 9-6-0, 7-5-0 in the conference.

Regis broke the scoreless contest early as sophomore Bailey Elliot (Tolland, Conn.) knocked home a feed from freshman Kaylee Francis (Millis, Mass.) in the 10th minute. It was Elliot's 2nd goal of the season and gave the Pride a 1-0 lead. Six minutes later, Francis extended the lead to 2-0 with her own goal, her 10th of the year in the 16th minute.

From that point forward, Rivier junior goalkeeper Kasey Smith (Hopkinton, N.H.) was able to keep the offense at bay as she finished the game with an incredible 20 saves. Regis freshman goalie Oriana Attridge (Westwood, Mass.) stopped all four shots she faced on net for the shutout win.

Next up for the Raiders will be another conference contest on Saturday afternoon as they welcome Johnson & Wales University to Raider Field for a 3:30pm kickoff. Regis will wrap up their regular season next Tuesday night as they host Framingham State at 7pm.
