Women's Soccer: Glynn, Raiders fall to Nichols 3-1

(Boston, Mass.) The Rivier University Women's Soccer team dropped a non-conference contest this evening at Nichols College, 3-1. The loss sends the Raiders to 2-6 overall while the Bison improve to 3-6-1 on the year.

Nichols jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead as Madison Clark netted her 3rd goal of the season in the 2nd minute of the game. That would be all the offense in a tightly contest opening 45.

Rivier would get the equalizer in the 47th minute when sophomore Madison Wescott (Tewksbury, Mass.) converted on a pass from junior Brittany Fletcher (Tewksbury, Mass.). It was Wescott's first goal of the season.

Almost 20 minutes later, Clark struck again – this time with help from Kaylin Goncalves – for the eventual game-winning goal in the 68th minute. The Bison then added an insurance goal in the 76th minute when Melody Millett was the beneficiary of a deflection and knocked home her first of the year.

Junior keeper Kasey Smith (Hopkinton, N.H.) made nine saves on the night as her counterpart Brooke Downey made three saves.

The Raiders will be back in action on Wednesday night as they travel to Anna Maria College for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest.
