Women's Soccer: Brittany Fletcher, Raiders earn 1-0 win over Suffolk

(Nashua, N.H.) Junior Brittany Fletcher's (Tewksbury, Mass.) goal in the 37th minute was all the offense the Rivier University Women's Soccer team needed this afternoon as they blanked visiting Suffolk University, 1-0 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action at Raider Field. The win lifts the Raiders to a 2-5 overall record and 1-5 in the conference while the Rams fall to just 2-7 overall, 2-5 against GNAC foes.

The game was tightly contested as both teams played aggressively. In the 37th minute, Fletcher was able to gather a loose ball inside the 18 and bury it for her second game-winning goal of the season.

Junior Kasey Smith (Hopkinton, N.H.) was outstanding between the pipes for the Raiders as she made seven saves for her first career clean sheet. Suffolk's Allison Rodrigues stopped three of the four shots she saw on net.

It'll be a quick turnaround for Rivier as they will travel to Dudley, Mass. for a non-conference date with Nichols College on Monday night. Suffolk will return to the pitch on Wednesday evening with a conference contest at Simmons University.
