Women's Soccer: Raiders fall on Senior Night to Plymouth State

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Women's Soccer season came to an end this evening as Plymouth State University took home the 3-0 non-conference win at a wet and rainy Raider Field. The Raiders finished the 2017 campaign with an overall record of while the Panthers climb closer to .500 at 7-8.

Prior to the start of the game, the Raiders bid farewell to the three seniors who played in their final game. Seniors Lauren Goodspeed (Merrimack, N.H.), Nicole Godschall (Hudson, N.H.) and Emily Edwards (North Kingstown, R.I.) were all recognized with their families at midfield.

The game was a good one early despite the heavy rain. The two teams battled to a 0-0 draw over the first 45 minutes. Plymouth State would strike first in the 60th minute when Keegan Burch made a sliding kick on a pass from Caitlin Catania to make it 1-0. The Panthers then doubled their lead in the 68th minute when Mallory Lloyd sent a corner kick into the box where Kate Martin headed one home and the final goal of the contest came in the final minutes as Kat Holmes sent a free kick from about 35 yards out into the upper 90 to account for all of the scoring.

Goodspeed finished the night with eight saves while Jenna Parsons stopped the two shots she faced for a clean sheet win.

Plymouth State will look to even their overall record on Saturday afternoon as they travel to Rhode Island College for a Little East Conference contest at 1pm.
