Women's Soccer: Raiders fall to Saint Joseph's College

(Standish, Maine) The Rivier University Women's fell this afternoon on the road against Saint Joseph's College (Me.), 4-0 in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest. The loss sends the Raiders to an overall record of 1-8-1 and 0-7-1 in the conference while the Monks improve to 8-4-1, 4-3-1 GNAC.

It was a good first half for the Raiders as they were able to keep up with the Monks until the 42nd minute. That's when SJC's Emily Thornton knocked home a pass from Kayla Gooch for the 1-0 lead.

The second half saw Saint Joseph's net three goals, including two from Haley DaGraca, to secure the win.

Sophomore Kasey Smith (Hopkinton, N.H.) made eight saves on the afternoon while her counterpart Brooke Troup stopped the only shot she saw on net for her clean sheet victory.

Rivier will return home for their next contest on Wednesday night when they host Emmanuel College at Raider Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:30pm.
