Women's Soccer: Goodspeed shines as Raiders fall to Simmons

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Women's Soccer team lost a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest this afternoon to visiting Simmons College, 3-0 at Raider Field. The loss sends the Raiders' overall record to 1-6-1 and 0-5-1 in the GNAC while the Sharks improve to 5-3-2 and 4-2-1 in the conference.

Simmons would get on the board early as sophomore Kristen Mihalich (East Rockaway, N.Y.) knocked home a loose ball inside the six for her first of the season. Junior Mikayla Elliot (Lowell, Mass.) would net the final two goals of the contest as she received passes from senior Kashika Gammon (Nashua, N.H.) in both the 29th minute and 61st minute for the 3-0 final.

The Raiders had opportunities to get on the board but a pair of nice plays from the Sharks defenders along the goal line helped keep the shutout intact.

Rivier goalkeeper Lauren Goodspeed (Merrimack, N.H.) was once again the star for the Raiders as she made 14 saves as the Sharks laced 17 shots on net.

Next up for the Raiders will be a GNAC contest on Wednesday evening when they host the University of Saint Joseph with a 7:30pm scheduled kickoff. Simmons will also be in conference action on Wednesday night as they host Albertus Magnus College at 7pm.
