Women's Soccer: Rivier comes up short at Mount Ida; fall 4-0

(Newton, Mass.) The Rivier University Women's Soccer team dropped their second straight Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest this evening as they fell to Mount Ida College, 4-0 down at the Mustang's Alumni Field. The loss sends the Raiders' overall record to 1-3, 0-2 GNAC while Mount Ida evens their conference mark at 1-1 and are now 4-1 overall.

Mount Ida scored their first goal just 9:30 into the contest and never looked back. They continued to add two more tallies in the stanza followed by one more in the second half.

Senior goalkeeper Lauren Goodspeed (Merrimack, N.H.) had a busy evening as she saw twelve shots on net in which she made eight saves. Rivier was outshot on the evening by a 19-7 margin.

Senior Emily Edwards (North Kingstown, R.I.) led the team with two shots on net while sophomores Keara Sheehan (Chelmsford, Mass.), Brittany Fletcher (Tewksbury, Mass.) and freshman Ashley Glynn (Salem, N.H.) and Madison Sharpe all were able to fire one off on net.

After a short two game road trip, the Raiders will return to the friendly confines of Raider Field on Saturday afternoon as they get set to host 7-time defending conference champion Lasell College in a 1pm GNAC kick-off.
