Women's Soccer suffers heartbreaking overtime loss

(Nashua, NH) The Rivier University Women's Soccer team continues to play well but suffered a tough 1-0 loss to visiting Albertus Magnus this afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference play. The loss sees the Raiders record fall to 2-4-1 and 1-2-0 in the GNAC. Albertus Magnus improves to 5-3-2, 2-1-0 GNAC.

Both teams played evenly throughout most of the game as the Falcons held the edge in shots at 29-5.

With just a minute and 18 seconds into overtime, Albertus Magnus' Meghan Skidmore ended the game as she was able to slip a shot past Rivier senior goaltender Cassandra Brown (Somersworth, NH) for the win.

Brown made 16 saves on the afternoon while her counterpart, Maria Case successfully handled all three shots she saw on net.

Rivier will be back in action when they host Curry College on Monday evening. The non-conference contest will begin at 7pm under the lights at Raider Field. Albertus Magnus will also be returning to the pitch when they host Mount Ida College in a GNAC matchup on Wednesday, October 2nd.
