Women's Lacrosse: Raiders suffer a loss to the Chargers, 15-4

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier Univesity Raiders lost their first conference match today at Raider Field, 15-4.  The loss was to GNAC foe Colby-Sawyer College of New London, N.H.. This win was earns the visitors a 2-2 overall and conference record.

The Raiders suffered 3 early goals by sophomore Briana Couture (S. Hadley, Mass).  One in which was unassisted and others assisted by teammates, senior Sierra Schuster (Hopkinton, N.H.) and senior Brittany Ireland (Amherst, N.H.). 

Junior Amanda Barton (Pelham, N.H.) was the first to strike back, off of a free position shot.  Ireland matched Barton with her own goal from a free position shot 15 seconds later.  

Barton went on to score another goal off of a dish from senior Marin Owens (Brookline, N.H.).  Shortly after, Marin netted one off of a free position shot.  This goal closed out the half for the Raiders at 6-3, in favor of the visitors. 

In the second half Senior Ashley Leal (Tyngsboro, Mass) tallied the only goal of the half, from a free position shot with 1:43 seconds left in the game in the game. 

Raiders senior goalkeeper Courtney Leperriere (Keene, N.H.) hung tough today denying 20 shots, while the visiting goalkeeper Maddie Langdon (The Woodlands, Tx.) walked away with 9 saves. 

Leading scorers for the visitors included Briana Couture with 6 goals, Sierra Schuster with 4 goals and Brittany Ireland with 3 goals. 

The Raiders will hit the road Wednesday to face another GNAC opponent Anna Maria College (0-4) in Paxton, Massachusetts at 7PM. The Chargers are set to host Husson University (1-2) on Monday at 3PM.
