Women's Lacrosse: Raiders earn GNAC win over Falcons, 18-5

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Women's Lacrosse team earned a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest this afternoon over visiting Albertus Magnus, 18-5 at Raider Field.  The win sends the Raiders to 1-5 in the GNAC and an overall record of 1-7.  Albertus slides to 3-6 and 0-5 in league play.

Freshman Stephanie Whalen (Litchfield, NH) led the offensive effort for the Raiders as she totaled 4 goals on the day.  While she was first to score at the 27:49 mark, several other followed her lead.  Junior Ashley Leal (Tewksbury, MA) and sophomore Dzenana Omerovic (Revere, Mass) both tallied 3 goals and 1 assist a piece. 

Sophomore Amanda Barton (Pelham, NH) returned to her scoring ways with 3 goals with 3 shots on goal.  Those three goals tied her up with teammate Stephanie Whalen as the two lead the team with 12 goals apiece.

Another top performer was junior Marin Owen (Brookline, NH) who scored 1 goal, 1 assist and scooped up 4 ground balls and snatched 2 draw controls. 

Net minder Courtney Laperriere (Keene, NH) proved to everyone yet again why she leads the GNAC in saves.  She denied 15 shots on goal bringing her saves total to 122.

This is a huge win for the Raiders as they prepare for another home game versus the Saints of Emmanuel College this Tuesday at 7PM.  Albertus will also play on April 10th as they're scheduled to face Lasell College in Newton, Mass at 4PM.
