Women's Lacrosse: Raiders suffer setback at Mount Ida College

(Newton, MA) The Rivier University Women's Lacrosse team suffered a 20-9 setback this evening at Mount Ida College in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action. The Raiders are now just 0-4 to start the young season with a 0-2 mark in league play while the Mustangs improve to 5-1 overall, 2-0 against GNAC competition. 

Sophomore Amanda Barton (Pelham, N.H.) got the Raiders on the board in the first half as her shot at 28:24 of the first half found the twine for her third goal of 2018. Barton finished the evening with the goal and three assists. Sophomore Dzenana Omerovic (Revere, Mass.) recorded a hat-trick with three goals on four shots and freshman Stephanie Whalen (Litchfield, N.H.) buried two goals. Junior Marin Owens (Brookline, N.H.) also found the back of the net twice in the contest along with a single goal from sophomore Alyssa Ciszek (Tyngsboro, Mass.) to account for all of the Raiders offense. 

Junior goalie Courtney Laperriere (Keene, N.H.) made 15 saves on the night for Rivier and Eleanor Garvey was successful on 11 of the 20 shots she face in between the pipes for the Mustangs. 

Mount Ida was led by Alyssa Kelly, who scored eight goals and assisted on four others. Hayley Napier finished with five goals and Brooke Scahill added four goals in the win. 

Next up for the Raiders will be yet another road conference contest. This one will be on Tuesday night as they travel to Brighton, Mass. for a 7pm game with Simmons College.
