Women's Lacrosse: Rivier falls at Lasell College, 11-3

(Newton, Ma) The Rivier University Women's Lacrosse team dropped a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest to Lasell College, 11-3 at Lasell's Grellier Field. The loss sends the Raiders to 0-1 in GNAC and an overall record of 0-3.

Freshman Stephanie Whalen (Litchfield, Mass.) scored two of the Raiders' three goals on the day.  The middie has proven to be a strong addition to the Raiders line up this spring.  She currently sits second on the team in goals scored and 4th in total shots on goal and overall points.

The Lasers were hard to handle as eleven different players scored, led by junior Jordan McComb (Cumberland, R.I.) with five goals and senior Taylor Yandow (Moretown, Vt.) with four.

Junior Vanessa Pino (Methuen, Mass.) chipped in with two goals and two assists, and sophomore Jorgia Bergin (Sandwich, Mass.) and freshman Kellie Matthews (Walpole, Mass.) contributed two goals and one assist each, the first two collegiate goals for Bergin.

Lasell had a 41-11 advantage in shots, and Laser sophomore goalie Morgan Choquet (Woonsocket, R.I.) made three saves to earn the victory between the pipes. Lasell improves to 4-1 on the season (1-0 GNAC) while Rivier drops to 0-3 overall (0-1 GNAC).

Rivier junior Courtney Laperriere (Keene, N.H.) had a busy day in goal and finished with 15 saves.  She is currently leading the conference with 75 saves in her 180 minutes of action.

Other program point leaders include sophomore Dezenana Omerovic (Revere, Ma).  With her 4 goals out of 7 shots on goal, she is just under 70%. Proven to be Riviers most proficient attacker.

Junior Marin Owen (Brooklin, NH) trails behind Omerovic in goals with 3.  However, sits first in assists tallying 3 and first in shots tallying 12.
