Parent Lifts Women’s Ice Hockey Over Worcester St. in OT, 2-1

WORCESTER, Mass. – After rallying to tie the game with 1:21 left in regulation, Brianna Parent scored with just six seconds remaining in overtime to push the Rivier women's ice hockey team to a 2-1 victory over Worcester St. in Eastern Collegiate Hockey Alliance (ECHA) play on Friday night at the Worcester Ice Center.

With the win, the Raiders improved to 8-8-3 (3-2-2 ECHA) while the Lancers fell to 6-13-1 (4-2-1 ECHA).

After a scoreless first two periods that included 39 saves by Riv goaltender Rachel Hinkley, the hosts would get on the board first, scoring with 4:53 remaining in regulation as Shelby Reaugh lit the lamp.

Under three minutes later, Rivier would tie things up at 1-1 as Paige Anger scored on assists by Olivia Schultz and Tia Picardi, forcing an overtime period.

In the final seconds of overtime, Jessica Driscoll rushed the puck into the offensive zone and fired a shot on target with Parent racing in to tap in a rebound to secure the program's first win over the Lancers in eight contests.

Hinkley stood tall in net for the Raiders, stopping 57 of 58 shots faced in her third victory of the campaign.

The win marked the first over Worcester St. in the all-time series dating back to the 2021-22 season, as well as the first for interim head coach Noelle Sass.

Both teams will face off in the final regular-season matchup between the pair on Saturday, Feb. 3 with a 7:00 p.m. puck drop scheduled from Conway Arena.
