Grumblatt Tabbed NEWBA Player of the Week
NEWBA RELEASE
NORTHAMPTON, Mass. – Following a historic week, Lyric Grumblatt of the Rivier women's basketball team was named the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) Player of the Week, the association announced on Tuesday.
Grumblatt earns this honor after being tabbed the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player of the Week on Monday, which was the fourth time this season.
In Monday's non-conference loss to Trinity (Conn.), Grumblatt matched her career-high points with 44. The senior guard shot 62.5% from the field and 6-of-10 from deep. She also finished one rebound shy of a double-double in the setback.
On Wednesday night, Grumblatt continued to make history as her 25-point performance in a 70-59 conference road victory over Colby-Sawyer put her second in the program's all-time scoring list with 1,744 points. Grumblatt hauled in 11 rebounds to secure a double-double.
Helping the Raiders down Dean 99-51 in Saturday's road matchup were Grumblatt's six three-pointers, putting her at 241 in her career, good for first in program history.
Grumblatt leads the GNAC in points per game (25.5), points scored (611), and steals per game (3.1). She is also third in the conference for three-point percentage (39.2%).
