Women's Basketball: Raiders trip up against JWU

Providence, R.I. – The Rivier Women's Basketball team dropped a Greater Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) contest this afternoon in Rhode Island against the Wildcats of Johnson and Wales University, 76-39. The loss brings the Raiders to an overall record of 4-17 (0-8 GNAC) while the Wildcats improve to 12-11 (4-5 GNAC) on the season.

The Raiders were led by freshman Heather Ries (Mont Vernon, N.H.) who totaled 14 points and collected seven rebounds on the night. Classmate Arianna Motivala (Nashua, N.H.) also collected seven rebounds while also putting up nine points. Sophomore Cydney Lessard (Auburn, N.H.) pitched in with six points and gathered four rebounds.

Senior Britney Gallagher (New City, N.Y.) led the night in scoring with 25 points on 9-of-17 shooting from the floor. Classmate Maddy Moro (Catawissa, Pa.) had the night's only double-double shooting 10 points and collecting 15 rebounds. Junior Marissa Cottrell (New Britain, Conn.) ended her night with pitching in 16 points.

The Raiders return to conference play on Tuesday traveling to Saint Joseph's of Maine for a scheduled 7:00 p.m. tip-off. The Wildcats will also return to conference play on Tuesday against Albertus Magnus for a scheduled 7:00 p.m. tip-off.
