Women's Basketball: Raiders downed by Elms College, 86-68

CHICOPEE, MASS. – The Rivier University Women's Basketball team suffered an 86-68 non-conference setback this afternoon on the road at Elms College. The loss sends the Raiders to 4-15 overall on the season while the Blazers improve to 6-13.

Rivier was led by sophomore Cydney Lessard (Derry, N.H.), who finished with 19 points including an 11-for-12 showing from the line. Freshman Arianna Motivala (Nashua, N.H.) chipped in with 18 points and sophomore Alexandra Grumblatt (Manchester, N.H.) finished one-point shy of a double-double with nine points and a team-high 13 rebounds. Freshman Heather Ries (Mont Vernon, N.H.) continues to shine bright as she ended her night with 17 points scored in the loss.

Elms saw junior Lashaunte White (Miami, Fla.) come off the bench to lead the Blazers with 18 points. Sophomore McKenzie Huria (Terryville, Conn.) added 12 points, also in a reserve effort, and senior Shannon Cullen (Brookfield, Conn.) contributed to the win with 10 points on the night.

Rivier will remain in non-conference action when they return to the Muldoon Gymnasium on Tuesday night for a 7pm tip against Fisher College. Elms will travel to Dean College on Tuesday night for a 6pm conference contest with the Bulldogs.
