Women's Basketball: Torpey, Raiders fall to Plymouth State

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The Rivier University Women's Basketball team suffered a 72-60 setback this evening on the road at Plymouth State University in a non-conference contest inside Foley Gymnasium. The loss sends the Raiders to 1-4 overall on the season while the Panthers climb above .500 at 2-1 on the season.

Sophomore Cydney Lessard (Auburn, N.H.) was 6-for-18 from the field as she recorded the team-high of 17 points for the Raiders. Classmate Alexandra Grumblatt (Manchester, N.H.) registered her 4th game of double-digit rebounds as she finished with 20 to go along with her seven points. Junior Catherine Torpey (Melrose, Mass.) added a 9-point, 8-rebound effort in the loss for the Raiders.

Plymouth State was paced by the effort of Isabella Earle, who led the team with 15 points. Chenysse Hill finished with 11 points and Jalen Cook added 12 points and nine rebounds off the bench for the Panthers. Brittany Roche also shined bright with nine points and eight rebounds in the win.

Rivier will return to the court on Friday night as they host the University of Maine-Farmington in the first-ever Great Northeast Athletic Conference/North Atlantic Conference Challenge. Game time is set for 8pm or 30 minutes following the conclusion of the Lasell University/University of Maine-Presque Isle contest at 6pm.
