Women's Basketball: Robarge, Raiders fall to Pine Manor in semester finale

NASHUA, N.H. – The Rivier University Women's Basketball team closed out the first semester of action this afternoon with a tough 72-67 defeat against visiting Pine Manor College in a non-conference contest at the Muldoon Gymnasium. The loss drops the Raiders to an overall record of 3-7 while the Gators climb to 2-6.

Sophomore Cydney Lessard (Auburn, N.H.) led the offensive attack for the Raiders as she recorded the team-high of 17 points on 5-of-13 shooting from the floor. Junior Catherine Torpey (Melrose, Mass.) added 14 points and freshman Arianna Motivala (Nashua, N.H.) chipped in with 11 points off the bench. Sophomore Alexandra Grumblatt (Manchester, N.H.) finished with another double-double as she totaled 10 points and 11 rebounds in the loss. Senior Jackelyn Robarge (Belmont, N.H.) registered six points and five rebounds while sophomore Ciera Clark (Pembroke, N.H.) dished out seven assists and scored nine points for Rivier.

Pine Manor junior Kierra Jackson (Pikesville, Md.) was an offensive juggernaut as she reached the game-high of 30 points while pulling down 19 rebounds. Freshman Mandy Mastropasqua (Portland, Maine) had 15 points and junior Courtney Foley (Holbrook, Mass.) finished with 10 points. Junior Nandi Eskridge (Pacifica, Calif.) was one rebound shy of a double-double as she wrapped up the contest with 11 points and nine rebounds. Freshman Ladaeja Robinson (Boston, Mass.) collected 10 rebounds off the bench for the Gators.

It will be roughly a month before the Raiders return to action as their next scheduled contest is slated for Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at home against Paul Smith's College. Game time is set for 6pm. The Gators are also finished for the first semester as they are set to return to action on Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at home against Fitchburg State University in a 4pm tip.
