Women's Basketball: Grumblatt's 20-20 leads Raiders to 80-72 victory

NASHUA, N.H. – Sophomore Alexandra Grumblatt (Manchester, N.H) recorded a double-double of 23 points and 24 rebounds as the Rivier University Women's Basketball team earned an 80-72 victory this afternoon over visiting University of Maine-Presque Isle in the final game of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference-North Atlantic Conference Challenge. The Raiders are now 2-6 on the season while the Owls fall to just 1-3.

Grumblatt was named to the All-Tournament Team as she shot 8-for-18 from the floor while collecting 16 of her 24 rebounds on the defensive end. She was also a perfect 7-for-7 from the charity stripe. Over the two-game classic, Grumblatt finished with 32 points and 39 rebounds. However she was not the only Raiders to record a double-double in the contest as junior Catherine Torpey (Melrose, Mass.) finished with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Sophomore Cydney Lessard (Auburn, N.H.) added 13 points and freshman Arianna Motivala (Nashua, N.H.) chipped in with 15 points off the bench in the win for Rivier.

Maine-Presque Isle saw sophomore Sarah Musselman (Turlock, Calif.) earn All-Tournament team status as she finished the afternoon with nine points and five assists. Four members of the Owls reached double-digits led by sophomore Hunter Mercier (Fairfield, Maine), who shot 6-of-11 including five made three-point attempts to finish with 17 points. Freshman Mariah Dunbar (Canaan, Maine) collected seven rebounds and scored 13 points for Maine-Presque Isle along with 10-point efforts from junior Taylor Miller (Weeki Wachee, Fla.) and Marissa Reagle (Seattle, Wash.). Reagle finished with eight assists and seven rebounds while Freshman Kassie Farley (Washburn, Maine) added nine points in a reserve effort for the Owls.

The Raiders will enjoy some much needed rest as their next scheduled contest will be on Thursday, December 5th at Mount Holyoke College. Game time is set for 7pm. Maine-Presque Isle will host Maine-Machias on Monday evening at 5:30pm in their next contest.
