NASHUA, N.H. – In the second game of the 2019 Great Northeast Athletic Conference-North Atlantic Conference Challenge, the Rivier University Women's Basketball team dropped the non-conference contest against the University of Maine-Farmington, 65-51 tonight in front of 150 people at the Muldoon Gymnasium. The loss moves the Raiders to an overall record of 1-6 while the Beavers earn their first win of the season and are now 1-2.

Rivier battled hard throughout the first 20 minutes as they entered the locker rooms with a five-point deficit. However a UMF 21-12 run in the 3rd quarter was the difference maker in the loss.

Sophomore Cydney Lessard (Auburn, N.H.) led the team with 17 points on 6-of-15 shooting from the floor while classmate Alexandra Grumblatt (Manchester, N.H.) pulled down 15 rebounds and added nine points. Freshman Arianna Motivala (Nashua, N.H.) chipped in with 12 points and seven rebounds off the bench for the Raiders in the loss. Junior Catherine Torpey (Melrose, Mass.) recorded six blocked shots on the night.

The Beavers were guided by the all-around effort of McKenna Brodeur, who recorded a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds. She shot 4-for-19 from the floor and pulled down 10 defensive rebounds while also registering four blocked shots. Page Brown also recorded a double-double with a 12 point, 12 rebound night and Alex Bessey finished with 10 points. Molly Folsom had a solid showing off the bench for Maine-Farmington as she totaled eight points and 11 rebounds.

Both teams will return to the Muldoon Gymnasium court tomorrow afternoon for the final day of the GNAC-NAC Challenge. Maine-Farmington will battle Lasell University at 12pm while the Raiders take on the University of Maine-Presque Isle at 2pm. Lasell defeated UMPI 79-61 in the 6pm game earlier today.
