Women's Basketball: Kacavas nets 31 in 78-63 loss at Suffolk

(Boston, Mass.) Senior Kaylee Kacavas (Dracut, Mass.) scored a game-high 31 points however the Rivier University Women's Basketball team suffered a 78-63 setback this evening at Suffolk University in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest. The Raiders, who played their first game since December 8th, are now 1-9 overall on the season with a 0-1 mark in the conference while the Rams improve to 10-4 and 2-0 against the GNAC.

Kacavas shot 11-of-22 from the floor, including 3-for-9 from beyond the arc, as she topped the 30-point mark for the 3rd time this season. Junior Elizabeth Meehan (Nashua, N.H.) chipped in with a 15-point effort and senior Megan Hamel (Colebrook, N.H.) added 12 points and 7 rebounds in the loss.

For Suffolk, sophomore Jenni-Rose DiCecco (Falmouth, Mass.) paced the offense with 23 points on 10-of-18 shooting from the floor. Junior Alexis Hackett (Charlton, Mass.) registered a double-double with 19 points and 14 rebounds while freshman Allie Lopes (Scituate, Mass.) added nine points off the bench for the Rams.

Rivier will be back on the court this Thursday night as they host Anna Maria College at 8pm inside the Muldoon Gymnasium. Suffolk will look to remain unbeaten in the conference as they travel to Norwich University next Thursday (1/17) for a 7pm contest.
