Women's Basketball: Meehan, Raiders fall to Plymouth State

(Concord, N.H.) The Rivier University Women's Basketball team battle in-state foe Plymouth State University this evening in the annual Boys and Girls Club Classic hosted by New Hampshire Technical Institute. The Raiders fell to 0-3 on the young season as they dropped the non-conference affair 61-53 to the Panthers (3-0).

Senior Kaylee Kacavas (Dracut, Mass.) was the game-high scorer as she knocked down 11-of-26 from the floor on her way to 28 points while pulling down eight rebounds. Junior Elizabeth Meehan (Nashua, N.H.) added eight points and both senior Megan Hamel (Colebrook, N.H.) and junior Alexis Ivory (Nashua, N.H.) each collected seven rebounds apiece. Freshman Cydney Lessard (Auburn, N.H.) chipped in with 12 points in a reserve effort for the Raiders.

Plymouth State saw three student-athletes reach double-digits in scoring with senior Debra Morrill (Concord, N.H.) leading the way with a 17-point, 9-rebound effort. Classmate Jess Conant (Canton, Maine) shot 5-for-10 on her way to 15 points and sophomore Elizabeth McLaughlin (Melvin Village, N.H.) provided 10 points and six rebounds off the bench for the Panthers.

The Raiders will look to rebound quickly as they get set to play in the Brandeis University Tip-Off Tournament tomorrow afternoon. Rivier will take on the host Judges beginning at 5pm inside the Red Auerbach Arena. Plymouth State will travel to Lyndonville, Vermont on Saturday afternoon for their next contest against Northern University of Vermont-Lyndon.
