(Lynn, Mass.) The Rivier University Women's Basketball team suffered a tough 77-66 defeat this evening to Fisher College in a non-association, non-conference contest held at the Fecteau-Leary Gymnasium. The loss sends the Raiders to an overall record of 0-6 while the Falcons continue their hot start at 7-1.
Senior Kaylee Kacavas (Dracut, Mass.) led the way for Rivier with a team-high 24 points and classmate Megan Hamel (Colebrook, N.H.) recorded a double-double of 14 points and 13 rebounds. Freshman Cydney Lessard (Auburn, N.H.) added 15 points, including a perfect 7-for-7 from the line, for the Raiders in the loss.
The Falcons were guided by the sharp-shooting of junior Vivian Lara (Norwalk, Calif.), who netted the game-high of 37 points on 13-of-24 shooting from the field while collecting 11 rebounds for her own double-double. Fellow junior Jenny-Lynn Eggers (Sonoma, Calif.) chipped in with 17 points and freshman Shaniah Hazard (Providence, R.I.) pulled down 13 rebounds off the bench.
Rivier will enjoy a week off as they celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday break and prepare for their next contest on Thursday, November 29th at Lesley University. Game time is set for 7:30pm. Fisher will host the College of Saint Joseph (Vt.) in their next scheduled contest on Wednesday, November 28th at 5pm.
