Women's Basketball: Suffolk tops Rivier, 52-37

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Women's Basketball team suffered a 52-37 setback this evening to visiting Suffolk University in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest held inside the Muldoon Gymnasium. The loss sends the Raiders to an overall record of 3-17 with a 2-13 mark in league play while the Rams, who locked up a spot in the upcoming GNAC Tournament, improve to 18-6, 11-4 GNAC.

Junior Kaylee Kacavas (Dracut, Mass.) recorded a team-high 12 points and sophomore Lizzy Meehan (Nashua, N.H.) added seven points while junior Hayley Macken (Clifton Park, N.Y.) chipped in with eight points off the bench. Senior Emilee Kacavas (Dracut, Mass.) and junior Megan Hamel (Colebrook, N.H.) each pulled down double-digit rebounds as they recorded 13 and 10 respectively in the loss.

Suffolk sophomore Alexis Hackett (Charlton, Mass.) led all scorers with a game-high 16 points on 6-of-12 shooting from the floor and senior Georgia Bourikas (Hull, Mass.) netted 10 points for the Rams. Freshman Jordan Hipwell (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) and classmate Jenni-Rose DiCecco (Falmouth, Mass.) each grabbed nine rebounds as did Hackett.

The Rams outshot the Raiders, 30.6% to 25.4% and with Rivier holding the rebounding edge 49-45.

Rivier will close out the season on Saturday afternoon as they host Regis College. Game time is set for 1pm with senior day activities set to begin prior to the tip. Suffolk will also be in action on Saturday as they host the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) in a 1pm contest.
