Women's Basketball: Kacavas' 34 points helps to rout Anna Maria, 69-49

(Paxton, Mass.) For the third time in the past four outings, the Rivier University Women's Basketball team brought home a well-deserved win as they routed Anna Maria College, 69-49 on Senior Day inside the AMCAT Center this afternoon. The win improves the Raiders overall record to 3-16 with a 2-12 mark in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action while the AMCATS fall to 4-19, 3-11 in the GNAC.

The story of the afternoon was junior Kaylee Kacavas (Dracut, Mass.) who lit it up for a game-high 34 points on 11-of-25 shooting from the floor while pulling down 12 rebounds. It was the highest scoring contest of the season for Kacavas and just her fourth double-double of the year. Also registering a double-double was classmate Megan Hamel (Colebrook, N.H.) as she racked up a game-high 17 rebounds to go along with 10 points for her sixth double-double of the season. Sophomore Lizzy Meehan (Nashua, N.H.) also contributed with 12 points for Rivier.

The AMCATS were led by seniors Kristina Russo (South Windsor, Conn.) who finished with 14 points and Martitza Gustave (Fall River, Mass.) who totaled 12 points and 14 rebounds.

Rivier will wrap up the 2017-2018 campaign with a pair of home games next week. They will return to action on Tuesday night against Suffolk University at 7pm and then conclude with senior day against Regis College on Saturday afternoon.
