Women's Basketball: Raiders tripped up at Regis, 63-53

(Weston, Mass.) The Rivier University Women's Basketball team dropped a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest this evening as they fell at Regis College, 63-53. The loss sends the Raiders' overall record to 0-10 with a 0-6 mark in conference play while the Pride improve to 8-6 overall and 6-0 in the GNAC.

Despite trailing by 23 entering the final 10 minutes, the Raiders stormed back with a 22-point quarter – the second most points scored in a quarter this season – but was only able to cut the deficit to 10 for the 63-53 final.

Junior Kaylee Kacavas (Dracut, Mass.) was outstanding as she poured in 23 points while collecting seven rebounds. Classmate Megan Hamel (Colebrook, N.H.) registered a double-double as she had 11 points, 13 rebounds and senior Emilee Kacavas (Dracut, Mass.) pulled down 12 rebounds of her own. Sophomore Lizzy Meehan (Nashua, N.H.) added seven points and four rebounds for Rivier.

Regis, who continued their unprecedented winning streak against conference opponents, was led by freshman Nikki Bitinaitis (Cromwell, Conn.) who had 11 points while junior Sam D'Angelo (Woburn, Mass.) evened out at eight points and eight rebounds. Sophomore Taylor Iorfino (Monroe, Conn.) chipped in with nine points off the bench.

The Raiders will return to action on Saturday afternoon as they host Norwich University.
