Women's Basketball: Macken nets career high in win over CSJ-Vt.

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Women's Basketball team once again took care of business on their home floor tonight as they defeated visiting College of Saint Joseph (Vt.), 74-61 in non-conference action at the Muldoon Gymnasium. The win is the second in as many home games for the Raiders as they improve to 2-16 of the season for the Raiders. The Fighting Saints fall to 9-11 overall.

Junior Kaylee Kacavas (Dracut, Mass.), who was honored prior to the game for her 1,000th career point she scored last Saturday at JWU, went off for a double-double with a game-high 27 points on 9-for-12 shooting from the floor and 12 rebounds. Classmate Hayley Macken (Clifton Park, N.Y.) had herself a career night as she netted 16 points, including shooting 3-for-4 from beyond the arc, while sophomore Lizzy Meehan (Nashua, N.H.) collected 12 points. Senior Emilee Kacavas (Dracut, Mass.) dished out seven assists in the win.

The Fighting Saints were paced by freshman Aliesha Thomas (Brooklyn, N.Y.) who had 25 points and classmate Dymond Collins (Chester, Pa.) added 10 points of her own. Collins and sophomore Daija Black (Germantown, Md.) each pulled down the team-high of 8 rebounds with Black also scoring eight points.

Rivier will return to Great Northeast Athletic Conference action on Saturday afternoon as they travel to Anna Maria College for a 1pm tip. College of Saint Joseph will stay on the road as they head up to Presque Isle, Maine for a date with the UMPI Owls on Saturday afternoon.
