Women's Basketball: Kaylee Kacavas records 1,000th career point at JWU

(Providence, R.I.) It was a historic afternoon for the Rivier University Women's Basketball team despite the 74-64 loss at Johnson and Wales University in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest.

Junior Kaylee Kacavas (Dracut, Mass.) became just the 17th Women's Basketball Student-Athlete to eclipse 1,000 career points in a Raider uniform. With the game clock at 2:42, Kacavas dribbled around a couple of defenders and made a layup as the shot clock was set to expire for her 1,000th point. She finished the afternoon with a game-high 26 points while freshman Alexis Ivory (Nashua, N.H.) chipped in with 12 points. Junior Hayley Macken (Clifton Park, N.Y.) had a solid afternoon as she added nine points in a reserve effort for the Raiders.

The Wildcats were led by senior Raquel Pederzani, who finished with 24 points and eight rebounds.

Rivier (1-16, 1-12 GNAC) will be back in action on Thursday night as they host the College of Saint Joseph (Vermont) for a 7pm non-conference contest. Johnson and Wales (13-9, 9-4 GNAC) will visit Anna Maria on Tuesday night.
