Women's Basketball: Sheehan drops 14, Raiders fall to Saints

(Rutland, Vermont) The Rivier University Women's Basketball fell on the road this evening to the College of Saint Joseph (Vt.), 90-58 in a non-conference matchup in Rutland, Vermont. The loss moves the Raiders' overall record to 0-5 on the young season while the Saints inch closer to .500 at 4-5 overall.

Sophomore Keara Sheehan (Chelmsford, Mass.) had the best game of her young career as she totaled 14 points (tied for the team lead) on 4-of-8 shooting from the floor while grabbing eight rebounds. Senior Emilee Kacavas (Dracut, Mass.) also netted 14 points and junior Megan Hamel (Colebrook, N.H.) registered a double-double with 11 points and a career high 21 rebounds.

The Saints received double-digit efforts from four different student-athletes with freshman Dymond Collins (Chester, Pa.) leading the way at 19 points and 8 rebounds. Sophomore Daija Black (Germantown, Md.) was just a step behind as she totaled 18 points and freshman Aliesha Thomas (Brooklyn, N.Y.) chipped in with 13 points. Freshman Crisalida Chaplin (Boston, Mass.) added eleven points and seven rebounds in a reserve effort for CSJ.

It'll be a quick turnaround for Rivier as they travel to Standish, Maine on Saturday afternoon for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference matchup with Saint Joseph's College (Me.). The Saints, on the other hand, is not scheduled to return to action until January 7th when they host Fisher College.
