Women's Basketball: Raiders upended at home by JWU

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Women's Basketball team suffered a 91-39 defeat this afternoon to visiting Johnson and Wales University in the 2017-18 Great Northeast Athletic Conference opener for both squads. The Raiders are now just 0-4 (0-1 GNAC) on the young season while the Wildcats improve to 3-2 (1-0 GNAC).

Rivier was led by senior Emilee Kacavas (Dracut, Mass.) who scored 17 points and collected seven rebounds. Freshman Alexis Ivory (Nashua, N.H.) registered eight points and sophomore Keara Sheehan (Chelmsford, Mass.) netted four in the loss.

JWU's offensive output was directed by senior Raquel Pederzani (Coventry, R.I.), who scored 12 points but dished out 9 assists. Junior Ally Mishol (Longmeadow, Mass.) and sophomore Brittney Gallagher (New City, N.Y.) each chipped in with 19 points for the game-high while senior Sarah Duryea (Middle Village, N.Y.) knocked down 15 points. Freshman Morgan Chapman (York, Maine) also reached double-digits with 11 points off the bench.

The Raiders will travel up to Rutland, Vermont for their next scheduled contest on Tuesday evening against the College of Saint Joseph (Vt.). The Wildcats will return to the floor on Wednesday night as they host Bridgewater State.
