Women's Basketball: DeBaldo's double-double leads Raiders over Fisher, 97-74

(Nashua, N.H) The run-and-shoot offense returned to the Muldoon Gymnasium this afternoon for the Rivier University Women's Basketball team as they jumped out to a 29-8 lead after the first ten minutes on their way to beating Fisher College, 97-74. The win lifts the Raiders' overall record to 2-4 as they will take time off for finals next week and then prepare for a pair of games in Puerto Rico during the winter break.

Sophomore Kaylee Kacavas (Dracut, Mass.) shot 10-of-18 from the floor as she led the team with 29 points. Senior Caitlyn Perry (Nashua, N.H.) knocked down 5-of-8 from beyond the arc as she totaled 25 points with seven assists and classmate Rebecca DeBaldo (Pelham, N.H.) recorded her first double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Senior Savanna Butterfield (Londonderry, N.H.) was the other Raider to reach double-digits in scoring as she had 12.

The Falcons (3-4 overall) saw three student-athletes record double-doubles as senior Christine Briggs (Rumford, Maine) led the way with 17 points and 13 rebounds. Sophomore Aliyanah McIntosh (Brooklyn, N.Y.) finished with 14 points and 11 rebounds while classmate Jameela Olivo (Hyde Park, Mass.) came off the bench and totaled 13 points and 10 rebounds. Freshman Skylar Robinson (Atlanta, Ga.) also reached double-digit points as she finished with 14.

Rivier outshot the Falcons by a 41.3% to 37.8% margin but was outrebounded by a 57-45 mark. The most important stat of the afternoon however is the fact that Rivier assisted on 25 of the 33 made baskets on the contest.

When the Raiders return to action it will be in the beautiful commonwealth of Puerto Rico. They will square off with Berry College on December 28th and Wisconsin-Platteville on December 29th before returning to Nashua.
