Women's Basketball: Buterfield's Triple-Double vaults Raiders past Anna Maria

(Nashua, N.H.) Senior Savanna Butterfield (Londonderry, N.H.) recorded a triple-double as the Rivier University Women's Basketball team earned a 70-64 win over Anna Maria College in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action at the Muldoon Gymnasium. Rivier improves to 2-4 overall on the season and 1-1 in the GNAC while the Amcats drop to 0-2 in league play and 2-4 overall.

Butterfield netted 16 points on 6-of-11 shooting, pulled down 13 rebounds and dished out 10 assits. This is her third consecutive game with atleast double-digit points and rebounds and her first career triple-double. However Butterfield was not the only Raider to reach the double-digit plateu as three other starters all 16 or more points. Senior Caitlyn Perry (Nashua, N.H.) was the team leader with 18 points and both senior Caitlin Bulger (Quincy, Mass.) and sophomore Kaylee Kacavas (Dracut, Mass.) finished with 16 points apiece. Kacavas and senior Rebecca DeBaldo (Pelham, N.H.) each collected nine rebounds in the win.

Anna Maria got a solid effort out of junior Kristina Russo (South Windsor, Conn.) who shot 9-for-18 with four three-pointers on her way to a game high 22 points. Senior Christian Gauvin (Dudley, Mass.) added 14 points and classmate Deja Taitt (Cambia Heights, N.Y.) led the team with 16 rebounds to go along with her nine points. Senior Emily Capstick (Worcester, Mass.) chipped in with eight points for the Amcats.

The Raiders will enjoy a full week off before they close out the first semester schedule with a non-conference matenee against Fisher College on Sunday, December 11th. Anna Maria will also have a week off as they get set to host Framigham State on Saturday, December 10th.
