Women's Basketball: Butterfield records point #1000 in final meeting with Daniel Webster

(Nashua, N.H.) Rivier University Women's Basketball senior Savanna Butterfield (Londonderry, N.H.) recorded her 1,000th career point and finished the game with 16 points and 18 rebounds as the Raiders defeated the visiting Daniel Webster College Eagles, 81-66 for the final time in the 22 year history of the series.

Rivier, winners of the final four meeting between the two Nashua based schools, will forever hold a 17-9 record against their cross-town foes as Daniel Webster is set to close in May.

The Raiders (1-3 overall) also received solid nights from seniors Caitlyn Perry (Nashua, N.H.) and Caitlin Bulger (Quincy, Mass.). Perry finished the game with 23 points and four assists while Bulger dropped 16 points and five steals. Sophomore Kaylee Kacavas (Dracut, Mass.) added just 10 points and eight rebounds over her 29 minutes of work. Senior Kayla Davis (Wareham, Mass.) chipped in with four points and four rebounds in the team's first win of the season.

Daniel Webster, 0-4 to start the season, was paced by senior Kayla Free (Quincy, Mass.) as she connected on 7-of-17 from the floor and finished with 17 points and nine rebounds. The Lawrence, Mass. junior duo of Natasha Santana and Escarlin Reynoso totaled 24 points and freshman Grace Mulvey (Merrimack, N.H.) contributed 12 points and eight rebounds off the bench for the Eagles.

Rivier will return to action next Tuesday evening as they begin Great Northeast Athletic Conference competition with a trip to Norwich University. Daniel Webster will be back on the court this upcoming Sunday afternoon as they travel to Eastern Nazarene College for a 1pm start.
