Women's Basketball tops 100 points in win at Lyndon State

(Lyndonville, Vermont) Led by Waterford, Vermont native senior Britney Lane, the Rivier University Women's Basketball team posted their biggest win in three seasons with a 101-47 triumph over Lyndon State College on Tuesday night.

Lane had her best game of the season as she knocked down 3 three-pointers en route to a 15 point night. Senior Ryan Baker (Whitinsville, MA) continues to play extremely well as she guided the offensive with 17 points and 9 assists. Junior Deanna Purcell (Hudson, NH) added 14 points while senior Jaclyn Penniman (Dudley, MA) contributed 12 points for Rivier. Freshman Caitlyn Perry (Nashua, NH) shot 50% from the floor as she had 10 points off the bench in the lopsided win.

Lyndon State received solid efforts from Drew Neal and Emily Gray. Neal was the leading scorer with 12 points in a reserve role while Gray was a point behind with 11. Britney Geoffrey collected 8 rebounds for the Hornets.

The 54 point win was the largest margin of victory for the Raiders since they defeated Fisher College 101-44 (57 points) back on December 6, 2011 at the Muldoon.

Rivier improves to 10-2 on the season with the win. It is the best start to the season (thru the first 12 games) since the '09-'10 year when they went 9-3. They will host Connecticut College on Thursday night – 7pm inside the Muldoon Gymnasium – in their next scheduled matchup.
