Softball: Terriers take two from Raiders, 5-1 and 3-1.

(Nashua, N.H.)  The Rivier University Raiders dropped two matches to the Terriers of Thomas College.  The loss drops the Raiders to 7-23 overall and the win lifts the Terriers to 18-8.

Game 1: Rivier University 1 vs Thomas College 5 (final)

The Terriers were first to get on the board at the top of the 2nd inning.  The first run was scored when the visitors loaded the bases and junior Kayla Bess (Madison, Maine) connected,  however grounded out to Raiders short stop Nicole Capra (Lowell, Mass.).The Terriers sent their man on third home to earn their first run of night. 

The visitors earned two more runs at the top of the 3rd.  The Raiders struck in the 4th inning after they loaded the bases and sent sophomore Morgan Pratt (Pelham, N.H.) to the plate.  Pratt wound up reaching first on an errob by Terriers second baseman.  The result, freshman Hunter Greenleaf (Scarborough, Maine) crossing home plate.  Unfortunately this was the only run for the Raiders in the first meeting. The score ended at 4-1 in favor of the visitors.

Raiders sophomore Pitcher Kellie Kennedy (Hudson, N.H.) earned herself 5 K's, while Terriers sophomore pitcher Katelyn Coulter (Jefferson, N.H.) threw 3 K's. 

Game 2: Rivier University 1 vs Thomas College 3 (final)

The Terriers struck first again in the first and second inning.  In the first inning Terriers senior Lexi Colpack (Franklin, N.H.) wound up on stealing second after hitting a single when junior Lauren Guppy (New Sharon, Maine) was up.  Guppy eventually grounded out and Colpack advanced to third.  freshman Bailey Dunphy (North Anson, Maine) walked then stole second.  LeBourveau got picked off at first by the third baseman, however dunph and Colpack crossed the plate earning 2 quick runs.  

The Terriers scored another run at the top of the second after a wild pitch.  

The Raiders scored thier only run in the bottom of the 6th to narrow the lead to 3-1.  After Junior Kasey Smith (Hopkinton, N.H.) flied out to right field.  Sophomore Julia Dailey (Dracut, Mass.) hit a single. Senior Mikayla Ramsdell (Salem, N.H.) struck out swinging but freshman Hunter Greenleaf (Scarborough, Maine) singled advancing Daily to second.  Junior Taylor Rowsell (Chelmsford, Mass.) knocked a single sending Daily back to the dugout with a run. 

Raiders pitcher Taylor Rowsell threw one strikeout and gave up 7 unearned runs. 

A quick turn around for the Raiders as they'll host Mass Maritime on Wednesday at 3:30PM on Raider Field (turf) in Nashua, N.H.  The Terriers also have a game on Wednesday, however they'll be visiting Northern Vermont University-Lyndon.  First pitch is scheduled for 3PM.
