Men's Cross Country runs to 12th place finish at Pop Crowell

(Wenham, Mass.) The University of New England took home the team crowns in both the men's and women's events at the annual Pop Crowell Invitational in the Gordon woods on Saturday morning. Gordon's Damon Kilgore (Londonderry, N.H.) took home the men's individual title, while three UNE female runners crossed the finish line within two seconds of each other to take all top three finishes.

On the men's side, Kilgore outraced the competition in the 8k race with a time of 27:52. Wentworth's Daniel McSolla (Bridgewater, Mass.)—who finished just ahead of Kilgore at the UNE Invitational two weeks ago—managed a time of 28:05 for second place. UNE's CJ Vallie (Nashua, N.H.) and Shane Murphy (Glastonbury, Conn.) finished third and fourth respectively to pace the Nor'easters. Wentworth's Patrick Hopkins (Lansdale, Pa.) evened out the top-five finishers.

The only finisher in the top 10 not from UNE, Wentworth or Gordon was Maine-Farmington's Connor Wagner, who finished in eighth with a time of 28:42.

UNE took the sweep of both races with a score of 36 points. Wentworth was not far behind with a score of 52 points and Gordon turned in a team score of 60 for third place. ​The Raiders had a team finish of 12th place and a score of 346.

Rivier's top finisher was sophomore Isaiah Arteaga (West Harford, Conn.) who was the 63rd finisher with a time of 34:53. Joe Fitzgerald (Wilmington, Mass.) was 68th at 35:47, freshman Joe Kelland (Watertown, Mass.) had a time of 36:03 (69th) and classmate Tyler Tambouris (Hooksett, N.H.) crossed at 37:18 (72nd).

Other Raider finishers were freshman William Ryan (Dorchester, Mass.) – 74th @ 38:15, Tyler Prendergast (Derry, N.H.) – 76th @ 38:21 and Max Tucci (Newton, Mass.) – 78th @ 39:35.
