Emerson and Norwich Finish With Top Team Spots

Nashua, NH – Emerson College and Norwich University finished first and second in both the men’s and women’s team races today at the Rivier College Cross Country Invitational in Nashua, NH.  In the women’s race, Emerson’s Heather Hoglund took the top spot with a time of 21:44 to help pace the Lions to a first place finish.  Norwich University finished second on the women’s side as they brought across the second, third, and fourth runners of the race, but with the fifth runner falling back to 24th in team points, Emerson was able to hang onto the top team spot with 37 points, Norwich finished with 46 points.  Franklin Pierce University came in third on the women’s side, with 53 points, while Daniel Webster crossed with a fourth place finish.  Host Rivier College started 5 runners, but 1 runner had to drop mid-race, which disqualified them from gaining a team score.  Suffolk University, NHTI and Nashua Community College all competed, but couldn’t score team points because they did not have 5 runners cross the finish line.

On the men’s side, Chris Apkarian from NHTI took the top individual spot with a time of 28:43, followed by a slew of Emerson and Norwich runners.  Norwich (31 points) took home the top team spot, getting all top 5 runners across the finish line in the top 10 in the race.  Joseph Rosenthal was the top Norwich runner, finishing third overall with a time of 29:35.  Emerson’s Brendan Stackhouse finished second overall with a time of 29:31 as his team finished second (34 points) in team points.  NHTI (73 points) finished third followed by Suffolk (103 points), Rivier (134 points) and Daniel Webster (176 points).  Nashua Community College was unable to place.
