Men's Volleyball: Smith, Roth earn GNAC Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week.

WINTHROP, MASS. - The Great Northeast Athletic Conference announced earlier this week that Rivier University seniors David Smith (Clinton, OH) and Cam Roth (Coventry, R.I.) have been selected as the Conference's Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week for Men's Volleyball. This is the second honor for the duo who have proven themselves since week one of competition.  Smith recieved his first nod in week one and Roth recieved his first in week five.

Smith led Rivier to a 2-1 week with the Raiders lone loss coming at the hands of No. 1 Springfield. The senior recorded double-digit kills in all three matches played and averaged 4.25 kills, 1.67 digs, 0.58 aces and 0.50 blocks per set while hitting .127. Smith highlighted his week with a 26-kill effort in a 3-1 win over Elms, which is receiving votes in the AVCA Division III national poll. He also had 12 kills in a 3-1 win over GNAC foe JWU and had 13 in the four-set setback to the Pride, as the Raiders managed to take one set from the top-ranked team in the nation.

Roth helped Rivier to a 2-1 week with the Raiders' lone loss coming at the hands of No. 1 Springfield. The senior libero recorded double-digit digs in all three matches to average 4.08 digs per set. Roth highlighted his week with a 25-dig performance in a 3-1 setback to the nation's top-ranked team, and he also had 14 digs in a 3-1 win over Elms, which is receiving votes in the AVCA Division III national poll.
