Men's Volleyball: Raiders down the Bison 3-1.

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Raiders picked up their second win today after topping the Nichols College Bison, 3-1.  The final scores were 22-25, 25-21, 9-25 & 15-25.  

While the Bison showed some fight in the second set the Raiders dug deep in the next two neutralizing the visitors and coming out victorious.  Seniors David Smith (Clinton, OH) and Francis Kokoros (Braintree, Mass) both dropped 10 kills a piece and collectively contributed four aces. The duo also demonstrated stong defense as Kokoros earned 5 digs and a block while Smith earned nine digs and two blocks. 

Others who contributed to the attack were sophmores Quinn Foglia (Remsenberg, N.Y.) with nine kills hitting at .316 and Kristjan Cortez (Fremont, Cali.) with 8 kills hitting at .385.  Sokunbuth Ly (Lowell, Mass) also chipped in with five kills.  

Veteran setter Pedro Ramos (Downey, Cali.) recorded an astonishing 39 assists and 5 kills on 9 attempts hitting a comendable .444. 

The Raiders offense was certainly relentless their defense was equally effective.  The Raiders collectively scooped up 53 digs and 12 blocks to close out the nights sending the Bisons home with a loss. 

The Raiders walk away from this afternoons tri-match with with 2 wins lifting them to a 4-0 record.  Next up for the Raiders will be their greatest challenge yet.  On Friday the 7th they'll travel down to Springfield, Massachusetts to face #2 Springfield College at 8pm, then on Saturday against #15 Stevenson College in the Hall of Fame Classic.  Check back in later this week for Saturday's game time.
