Raiders Too Much for Wildcats

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Raiders earned another conference win on the road, against the Wildcats of Johnson and Wales University Wildcats. The win raises the Raiders to a 14-7 overall record and 5-0 within the GNAC.

The scores were 25-14, 20-25, 21-25, 21-25 & 21-25.

The hosts ran off with the first set 25-14, however they know now not to count the Raiders out.  The second, third and fourth set were owned by the visiting Raiders.

It was David Smith (Clinton, Ohio) who led the Raiders with 10 kills, 3 aces, 7 digs and 2 blocks.  The Senior totaled 14.5 points on the night.

Just behind Smith was Khaynen Yocca (Pittsburgh, Pa.) with 9 kills on 14 attempts, he hit an impressive .571. 

Freshman Jack Normandin (Clifton Park, N.Y.) also dropped 9 kills and scooped up 9 digs.

Senior Francis Kokoros (Braintree, Mass.) tallied 7 kills and 4 aces and fellow senior Dashaun Graham (Highland Falls, N.Y.) contributed 6 kills and 4 blocks.

Junior setter Pedro Campos (Downey, Calif.) was part of 36 points by ways of assists and also contributed 3 kills an ace and 5 digs.

Earlier in the day the Raiders dropped the Jaguars of Wentworth Institute of Technology and did the same against the Wildcats.  With these two wins the Raiders are in good spirit in preparation for next weekend's conference double header against Lasell College and Emerson College.  Lasell will be looking for redemption as the Raiders swept them at the Muldoon Gymnasium on Thursday, February 28th. The Lions will be watching with hopes to pounce on the rampaging Raiders.

This double header is scheduled for Saturday, March 23rd at Emerson College in Boston, Mass.  The first serve will be made at 1:00PM. The Wildcats are slated to face the Lasers for the first time this season at 7:00PM on Tuesday, March 19th in Newton, Massachusetts.
